About a mile east of the hamlet of Pumpsaint, these unique mines were worked by both the Celts and the Romans. The fell into disuse and were then re-opened, being last commercially operated in 1938. Strangely both the old and the more modern workings are in good condition.
You can either just study the Exhibition with the history of the mine, displays of gold panning, old mining machinery. Or the more energetic can a take an underground tour
The setting is stunning on a wooded hillside overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley.

admission 4.30pm last underground tour 4pm.
