Wales Weather

The weather in Wales tends to be mild and variable. It makes GREAT difference whether you are on the top of Snowdon or beside the sea at Llandudno

The  coastal areas can be very warm in the summer, and comparatively mild in winter

The mountains can be wet and subject to rapid weaher changes. So if you are walking or climbing note that the weather in the upland areas is changeable at any time of the year. Winter is winter at 3000 feet.

Wales's rainfall is highest in its western mountains. Not surprisingly, the wettest place is the summit of Snowdon, with an annual average of over 180 inches. But many parts are much drier. The east  and coastal regions, for example, have less than 40 inches a year, Ruthin in the Vale of Clwyd recording  29in, or Rhyl on the North Coast 26 inches.
